Surely the English definition corresponds to 'unmoveable', not immobile. A witness can stand immobile before the judge - but (s)he is nonetheless quite capable of moving, or of being moved.

The American Heritage Dictionary accepts both meanings: 1. Immovable; fixed. 2. Not moving; motionless.
