Concept discussion

I found "cuspid" as one of the four teeth more prominent (no. 3 on the right and on the left side of the upper and the lower jaw), also called canine tooth.

cuspid = a tooth having one point, canine tooth.
canine =of or relating to any of the four teeth, two in each jaw, situated between the incisors and the premolars.
(The Nex Collins Concise English Dictionary).

Beltrix, I think you will find there is another concept for the definition you give.

Dear belitrix, I appreciate your input. I have double checked the noun and even went further and found from the Oxford Concise Medical Dictionary that the definition I gave is absolutelty correct. Awaiting your reply.

I've read the answer of miranda and already revised my introductions in German. I'm sorry but in my English dictionaries I only found the definitions I mentioned above. You are right with your definition and I'm still looking for the correct translation in German.

But I also would like to introduce the term for the 4 teeth I thought "cuspid" would be the right term for those "canine teeth".

I'm looking forward to have the opportunity to exc hange positions and knowledges about certain terms with you and other members of the wikiwords community.

Dear Belitrix, thanks for your prompt reply. I looked into the definition of canine = The third tooth from the mid-line of each jaw. There are thus four canines, two in each jaw, in both the permanent and primary(deciduous) dentitions. It is known colloquially as the eye tooth. So can I remove the red flag now?

I'm feeling a bit overestimated. I'm no administrator of this system but only a normal contributor as you are. The deletion and the editing of the terms you entered should also be handled by yourself. As I joined this site only recently, I am not too sure about all the insider procedures. I'll remove the flag I entered and I'll also correct the missing "e".
Looking forward to your further comments on this site.
